Holiday-Ready Curb Appeal: Pressure Washing Before Guests Arrive

Before the family comes over for Thanksgiving, give your driveway and patio a fresh start. Here is why Central Florida homes need it and how to get ready.

Pressure washing a concrete driveway, with a clean stripe through the dirt

The holidays are almost here. The turkey is ordered, the guest room is ready, and then you pull into the driveway and see it: dark stains, green film on the walkway and a patio that looks older than it is.

In Central Florida, that is normal. Our humidity and summer rain are perfect for mildew and algae. The good news is that a pressure wash can make a driveway look years younger in a single visit.

Why Florida driveways turn green and black

Months of heat, humidity and afternoon storms leave concrete, pavers and pool decks damp for long stretches. Mildew, algae and dirt settle into the surface, especially in shady spots under oak trees and along the north side of the house. Add tire marks, rust from sprinklers and leaf stains, and the whole front of the house looks tired.

Why November is the right time

  • The rainy season is over. Drier weather means a clean surface stays clean longer.
  • Guests are coming. Thanksgiving and holiday gatherings put your driveway and entry front and center.
  • It is cooler. Easier for everyone, and patios dry evenly without baking in the summer sun.
  • Before the lights go up. Wash first, then hang the decorations, so you do not have to work around them.

We use your water

Pressure washing uses the home's outdoor water spigot. Make sure it works and the water is turned on before we arrive.

How to get ready for the crew

  • Move the cars out of the driveway, and park them away from the spray.
  • Clear the area of planters, doormats, toys, bikes and patio furniture.
  • Close windows and garage doors near the work area.
  • Keep pets indoors while we work.
  • Tell us about trouble spots: oil stains, rust marks or areas that stay wet.

Selling or moving out? Wash it first

A clean driveway and entry are the first things buyers and new tenants see. If you are moving out, a pressure wash is an easy way to leave the place looking its best, and some landlords and HOAs expect it. If you also have old furniture or debris to clear out, you can book junk removal at the same time as your move, scheduled for a different day before moving day.

Getting the house ready for company? We also do handy work like furniture assembly and TV mounting, so the guest room is ready too.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I pressure wash my driveway in Florida?

Many Central Florida homes need it about once a year because of humidity, rain and shade. Driveways under trees or on the shady side of the house may need it more often.

Do I need to be home for pressure washing?

Not always, as long as the outdoor spigot works, the water is on and the area is clear. Let us know ahead of time so we can plan the visit.
